Miles for Smiles

In February 2014, Peter Jones, Don Havelberg, Scott Dekker and Ray Lindner will embark on a 60 day, 6500 mile epic charity motorcycle ride through SE Asia on four 1950′s designed Royal Enfield motorcycles. in support of Interplast in order to raise awareness and dollars to help Australia's developing Neighbours and the work being done by Interplast volunteers in these countries.

Japanese Summer Festival

City Road Master Plan

The first phase of community engagement took place from mid-February to mid-March 2014 with many people sharing their current experiences of City Road, both in person at the Boyd Community Hub and via the interactive map below. This valuable feedback will help inform the development of the draft master plan.

The second phase of community engagement will take place later in the year when the draft City Road Master Plan will be released for formal community engagement.

Miles for Smiles - New riders for Australian Leg

We’d like to introduce you to two great Miles for Smiles supporters – Stan Soutaris and Barry Richardson. Stan is the owner of ISM Interiors, a Victorian based commercial joinery and interiors contractor. Barry is a construction foreman for Lend Lease also based in Victoria. Both are motorcycle enthuisists and have been closely following our story and will be joining us for our Australian leg of the Smiles journey. Both riders are keen to fundraise as much as possible for Interplast Australia & New Zealand. Please join us in welcoming Stan and Barry to our cause!

Simone O’Brien Trust

Simone’s story of survival following brutal domestic violence touched a chord with viewers all around Australia on Channel Nine's 'A Current Affair'.

Rotary Club of Southbank in association with Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS), inspired by the plight of Simone O'Brien, has set up a trust fund for Simone O’Brien to raise money for Simone’s ongoing medical and rehabilitation costs.

Rotary has confirmed that 100 percent of the money you donate, less a credit card fee of 1.5%, will go to Simone. All donations are tax deductable.

With a rise in fatal “coward punch” deaths, innocent citizens like Jill Meagher and homeless man “Mousey” Perry being murdered on our streets here in our Australian cities and an increase in targeted street bombings around the world, Street Requiem is a new choral work that aims to bring a sense of peace, remembrance and hope to many communities that struggle to come to terms with street violence and a loss of safety on our streets.

Ramadan Mubarak

The Afghan Australian Development Organisation (AADO) invites you and your friends to join members and supporters for an Iftar dinner, breaking the fast with a night filled with sights and delights from Afghanistan.

A key part of breaking fast is giving back to the community by welcoming them into the home to share a meal. Proceeds raised from AADO’s Iftar dinner and auction will support the education and on-going training of rural women in Afghanistan.

International Service Seminar 2014

One of the primary aims of the various District 9800 International Service Committees is to encourage and support District 9800 Clubs in their efforts to participate in International Service.

In pursuit of this purpose, this International Service Expo will be conducted to provide an opportunity for D9800 Clubs to share their knowledge, provide information on opportunities available, discuss successfully dealing with different cultures and outline the assistance that is available from RAWCS and The Rotary Foundation.

Southbank Farmers’ Market -

In August, Rotary Club of Southbank along with Melbourne Farmers Market, Boyd Community Hub, City of Melbourne and all the others stall holders enjoyed a wonderful launch (despite early rain) of the launch of the latest Farmers Market at the Boyd Community Hub in Southbank.

Featuring over 60 stall holders, the event brought together hundreds of local residents together.

We look forward to welcoming you at the next market on Saturday 1st November, 2014.

Southbank Farmers’ Market

The Southbank Farmers Market is on again this month Saturday 1st November!

A vast array of produce will be available at the market from eggs, butter, cheese, meat and nuts to fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, honey, wine, cider, spices, dips, bread and olive oil. All produce comes directly from Victorian producers meaning that it is better for the environment, better for farmers and deliciously fresh!

Stadium Stomp - MCG

5th July, 2015

The first Stadium Stomp was held at Melbourne's MCG in 2013 and incorporated approx. 7,343 steps for the full course. Stadium Stomp is now in 4 of Australia's best known sporting stadiums.

This event is a must for those looking for their next unique fitness challenge. The event is open to people of all ages.

The Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Nursing Development Scholarship was created in 2009 by the Auxiliaries Executive  Committee to advance the finetalent of RCH nurses and ensure that The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) continues to be at the forefront of world class practice.

Each year this scholarship of $50,000 enables one nurse to further develop skills and experience which improve the care of children and preserve thelegacy that Dame Elisabeth held for the RCH.

Appeal to support Helen Bertocci & Daughters Trust Fund

Roger Bertocci was a loving husband, father and a good Samaritan.  But tragically Roger paid the ultimate price for one act of bravery when he allegedly stepped in to break up a domestic dispute between neighbours.

To raise funds for Helen Bertocci and her daughters, Ashley aged 14, and Brylee aged 18 months, Rotary is supporting this cause setting up a trust fund for Helen Bertocci and her daughters to help them with their on-going expenses.
