Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Luncheon

Nursing Development Scholarship

The Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Nursing Development Scholarship was created in 2009 by the Auxiliaries Executive  Committee to advance the finetalent of RCH nurses and ensure that The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) continues to be at the forefront of world class practice.

Each year this scholarship of $50,000 enables one nurse to further develop skills and experience which improve the care of children and preserve thelegacy that Dame Elisabeth held for the RCH.

Appeal to support Helen Bertocci & Daughters Trust Fund

Roger Bertocci was a loving husband, father and a good Samaritan.  But tragically Roger paid the ultimate price for one act of bravery when he allegedly stepped in to break up a domestic dispute between neighbours.

To raise funds for Helen Bertocci and her daughters, Ashley aged 14, and Brylee aged 18 months, Rotary is supporting this cause setting up a trust fund for Helen Bertocci and her daughters to help them with their on-going expenses.


The Wings for Life World Run

3rd May, 2015


The Wings for Life World Run will take place in Melbourne for the very first time on 3 May 2015.  This event supports research for a cure for spinal injuries.

It’s a great run for anyone! No matter what your fitness level set your goal for 5km or 50km it’s up to you how far you run before getting caught by the Catcher Car.

The race will start at Elwood Park in Melbourne's south with the track winding it's way down the Mornington Peninsula to Portsea.

30 Year Anniversary Concert - Steps Outreach Service

Steps Outreach Service, have for the past 30 years, been taking the time to talk with homeless people on the Steps of Finders Station while offering support, resources and hope for the future.

Featuring: The Choir of Hope and Inspiration (formerly the Choir of Hard Knocks).

Listen to stories of former homeless people about their experiences and join the Rotary Club of Southbank in congratulating Steps on their acheivements.

Mums and bubs dance classes

Are you a mum with a bub who wants to get fit and have fun? Dance 4 Life is a mums and bubs dance class which blends salsa, samba, merengue, cha cha (and even the Wiggles) in a fun session for you and your child. Classes run weekly at 10am in the Assembly Hall, starting Wednesday 13 May.

National Reconciliation Week at Boyd

Join us for workshops on traditional Aboriginal games, aimed at young children as part of Reconciliation Week. This is a fun way for kids aged three to five to learn about first Australian culture. Workshops at Boyd will run from 10.30am to 11.30am on Wednesday 27 May in the Assembly Hall.


Annual arts grants program 2016

Have you got an arts project in mind, but need some funding to get it off the ground? The City of Melbourne invites artists and arts organisations to apply for an arts grant.  Funding of up to $20,000 is available for arts projects and Indigenous arts projects that take place in the City of Melbourne in 2016. There are also additional opportunities for artists through new arts residencies.

Developed by the City of Melbourne, Melbourne Conversations is a series of city discussions on current and challenging issues to influence Melbourne's intellectual culture, creativity, liveability and sustainability. Public discussion led by knowledgable guest speakers is followed by audience questions.

Melbourne Conversation events usually take place at Deakin Edge at Federation Square, Melbourne Town Hall or at other city-based venues. All events are free, but sometimes bookings are required for smaller venues.

Wanted: Volunteers at Hanover

Rotary Club of Southbank has for many years provided volunteers to assist the residents of Hanover Welfare Services at their South Melbourne Centre by cooking up a BBQ every Friday night on a rotating roster basis.  If you are enthusiastic about helping out your local community, this is a great way to meet and talk to people challenged to improve their life situation.  More volunteers makes the work much more enjoyable and means and we can all share the work around.  For further information, please contact us or learn more about Hanover.

Bold New Vision for Sandridge Bridge

Southbank Local News:

Lord Mayor Robert Doyle has backed a proposal to transform Southbank’s historic Sandridge Bridge into an “aerial park”.

The City of Melbourne created the design concept for a tree-lined park on the 178 metre pedestrian bridge that connects Flinders St Station to Queensbridge Square in Southbank.

Southbank pedestrian bridge closed for repair works

The City of Melbourne is undertaking major works to replace decking on the Southbank pedestrian bridge, linking Flinders Street Station and Southbank Promenade. Nepal - Rebuilding the Road to Recovery

In response to the catastrophic earthquakes that ravaged Nepal in April and May 2015, Southbank Rotary has partnerted with the Rotary Club of Huon Valley and other Rotarians across Australia to assess the humanitarian needs of communities in Nepal.  Our club is committed to making a difference in Nepal through the first of our rebuilding projects scheduled for November 2015.
