Supporting Girls and the Future of Nepal – A Roadmap for future generations

Since the devastating Earthquake of 25 April 2015 in Nepal, the world immediately focused on the destruction and the loss of life.

However, in the community, there are ideas; and the Rotary Club of Southbank continues to connect with other Rotary Clubs, Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS), The Rotary Foundation and other like-minded organisations to find opportunities to not only rebuild, but alleviate poverty and work with leaders in the Nepalese community for partnership to create a bright future.

Learn how to do Tai Chi, a tranquil and graceful way of keeping fit, improving your health and preventing the stresses and strains of modern living.

These classes include Qigong breathing and meditation techniques, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination exercises, and martial applications and forms. They work to provide the perfect mind-body exercise program suitable for all ages and fitness levels.


Martians and Venusions in the Workplace

Celebrate International Women’s Day on Thursday 8 March 2012, with a dynamic breakfast Q&A that will tackle challenging issues facing men & women working together.

Proceeds will be directed to ‘Violence Free Families’, a Rotary initiative that educates Australian families challenged by aggressive and violent behaviour.


Travel Opportunity for Young Professionals!

The Rotary Foundation Group Study Exchange (GSE) program, provides a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young career oriented, business and professional men and women between the ages of 23 and 43 in the early years of their professional lives.
The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits between paired areas in different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country’s institutions and ways of life, observe their own vocations as practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships and exchange ideas. This year's GSE team is visiting Cambridge, UK


Synergy@Southbank: Networking by Rotary

Synergy is the interaction of multiple elements in a system to produce an effect greater than the sum of their individual effects.

Synergy is a new type of networking program for people of all occupations, designed to help build high quality connections and connecting skills for long term mutual benefit and service.

BOYD - Southbank's own community hub!

Boyd is the City of Melbourne’s first integrated community service space, transformed from the heritage-listed site of the former JH Boyd Girl's High School at 207-229 City Road, Southbank.

The multi-use facilty will feature the Southbank Library, Kere Kere cafe, family services, community meeting rooms and Creative Spaces artist studios. There will be a council self-service kiosk where people can renew their pet registration, pay rates and infringement notices, accounts and invoices. The Boyd centre will also have free Wi-Fi access.


Community Village - Keeping our city Safe at Night

Volunteers Needed on Friday and Saturday nights from 11pm to 4am through November and December

The Rotary Club of Central Melbourne - Sunrise Inc., Victoria Police, and the City of Melbourne have developed an approach to reducing crime on our city streets. For 4 years, Rotary volunteers provide a well lit and welcoming place where visitors can take a break, get free refreshments, and maybe wait for transport home. The response is almost always positive and surprise that Rotary does this sort of thing.
