Annual Rotary Leadership Programs

Rotary provides a number of Leadership Training Programs throughout the year for members, club officers and President Elects to develop their skils to lead their clubs and help them connect with their communities

Multi-District Conference (15-17 February, 2019)

For the first time next year, District 9800 will be joining forces with 3 other districts in Victoria for a combined District Conference to be held at the Melbourne Convention Entertainment Centre. This event will be a huge opportunity to hear the breadth of stories from clubs right across Victoria about the work they acheive in their Rotary Clubs and inspire us all to make a difference in our clubs.

District Assembly (19th May, 2019)

This annual event is a opportunity for all incoming club officers to develop skills to lead their particular roles in their club (e.g. President, Secretary,Treasurer, Club Service, Youth Service, Vocational Service, International Service, Community Service & The Rotary Foundation)

All members are welcome to attend.  For details and bookings, please contact Incoming President Sally Page, or your own club President Elect.

Strengthening your Club Workshops

19th August 2018 Baden Powell College, 81 Baden Powell Drive, Tarneit 3029
26th August 2018 Montague Street Continuing Education Centre, 100 Montague St, South Melbourne 3205

The District Support Team is conducting three facilitated workshops in August 2018, involving Warwick Cavell (Facilitator), Kerry Kornhauser OAM (Public Image/Communications), Yvonne Flynn (Club Service) and PDG Neville John (Membership Director).

These workshops will be hands-on interactive sessions that will include:

  • Leading change in your Club
  • Identifying the elements of a strong, vibrant club
  • Project identification and selection
  • Member and Community engagement
  • Promoting your club projects and activities
  • Your One-Page plan on membership recruitment and retention

Two members from each club are invited to attend, preferably President and/or Membership rep. The workshop is general in nature and not club specific and will provide an understanding of the process that can be used and ideas around how other things, if done properly can improve member recruitment prospects and retention.

Future Leaders Seminar at the Zone Institute

Since Brisbane ("Where Else?") in 2011, there has been a Future Leaders Seminar held as an integral part of the pre-Zone Conference training program.

In the lead up to each of those Seminars, Districts from around the Zone have identified Rotarians they think could become their future leaders. From those Seminars have emerged Rotarians who have gone on to be District Chairs and Committee members, Program leaders and Assistant Governors. And from these future District Governors have emerged... Rotarians who have been inspired by the Seminar to offer themselves forward to lead their District when they saw the time was right.

The 2018 Future Leaders Seminar will take place at Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hobart, on Thursday 13 September. It is a one-day event commencing at 9.00 a.m.

Districts should consider nominating Rotarians from their District who are able to share knowledge and experience in Rotary, as well as their thoughts and ideas on how best to lead. Through their involvement in the Seminar, participants will become effective future leaders in a variety of roles within their District. It is an investment in your District's future.

Places are limited, but it is hoped all Districts will be able to identify and nominate at least one future leader to attend - a minimum of 27 participants from across the Zone and across the ditch (New Zealand) sharing their passion for Rotary and their experience.
